... to the official website for The Jane Austen Survey 2008.
The drawing to the right depicts Jane Austen creating the "Jane Austen Survey 1808."
Well, not exactly. Formal surveys didn't exist in the 19th century (and Cassandra's portrait is of their niece Fanny). But
Jane Austen did actively poll the readers of her manuscripts and faithfully record their opinions. So I believe
she would look fondly on this modern-day effort to gather information on her current readership.
Have you read all six of Austen's major novels? Do you consider yourself a sincere admirer? If so, you are hereby invited
to participate in this survey of Austen readers. It will take about 15 minutes to complete. Results will be presented at the
annual meeting of the Jane Austen Society of North America (Chicago, October 2008 -- see link to this meeting at the
bottom of this page).
Please click on the links to the left to participate in this survey or access more background information.
Feel free to contact me (link at left) if you have questions or concerns, or wish to obtain a paper version of the survey.
